About the Role

The Goethe-Institut South Africa is looking for a Project Coordinator for the Cultural Economies in Townships project. The project is run by the Goethe-Institut South Africa and is aimed at improving/ investing in the infrastructure of existing hubs and centres in townships as well as implementing programmes in the field of cultural entrepreneurship. The first phase of the project consists of the following: - Research within South Africa on township economies - Coordination of network meetings - Develop content and formats around career prospects in the creative industries in townships - Conceptualize project elements and find partners

What You're Gonna Do

- Conducting comprehensive research towards conceptualizing the project further - Coordinating all activities related to the project, and reporting to the responsible project manager at the Goethe-Institut South Africa - Conceptualizing, organizing and implementing network meetings in 2019 - Budget monitoring and project reporting - Coordinating all public relations with the PR department at the Goethe-Institut South Africa and handling internal communication of the project with all stakeholders - Preparing texts and information materials for internal and external communication - Attending events, expos, forums and conferences related to the project - Building and maintaining relationships with existing and new partners - Performing the day-to-day administrative duties of the project and other duties as needed

About You

- Relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma/Degree in Cultural/Social Sciences, etc.) - Additional qualification in business related degrees is an advantage - Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience - Strong project management, coordination and organizational skills - Excellent networking skills - Good knowledge of township economies and cultural entrepreneurship - Familiarity with the South African township (economies) and preferably existing network of relevant contacts - Excellent written skills in English - Ability to communicate in German is an advantage - Flawless attention to detail - Ability to work under pressure and flexible hours when necessary - Ability to work fulltime at the office space provided by the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg

What We Offer

A full-time position (40 hours per week), starting 1st October 2018 (or earlier, if possible) for 12 months with the option to renew the contract. Non-South African applicants need to have a valid work permit for South Africa.
