About the Programme
The engineer of the future must be able to realize the actual needs of the local community where he or she lives and address the challenges of contemporary postmodern society. In order to achieve a real impact on the evolvement of the course of everyday life an engineer should be able to understand the needs and requirements of the public. Thus, it is imperative for future engineers to learn about social studies, arts and philosophy. The creativity and innovation requires prototyping and verification of assumptions once taken.
The Urban Laboratory is organized by the International Faculty of Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology. During a workshop in the site of one of the most popular pedestrian passages in Lodz, named after the famous Polish theatre director and critic - Leon Schiller, a group of students will create an artistic and spatial installation. Applying the methods of design and social science, we would like to also invite citizens of Lodz to take part and collaborate in the organization of the Birthday of Leon Schiller's Passage.
Working on their projects, students will have an opportunity to develop the following skills:
- Awareness,
- Entrepreneurship,
- Social competencies,
- Multidisciplinary approach,
- Innovative way of thinking.
