About the Event

The built environment accounts for 40% of CO2 emissions, 60% of resource use, and 50% of global waste. With the urban population expected to increase by 2.2 billion by 2050, the doubling of building stock could consume 3/4 of the carbon budget required to meet the 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement. So, how can we shift toward a regenerative future? Join Bauhaus Earth and its partners for two insightful webinars on Transitioning Towards a Regenerative Built Environment: - **Webinar 1: Insights from Cape Town & Beyond** Thursday, 20 March 2025 | 🕒 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM CET. Registration is required. - **Webinar 2: Innovations from Global Cities**: A spotlight on global case studies and policy frameworks to inform city-level initiatives worldwide. Wednesday, 26 March 2025 | 🕦 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM CET. Registration is required. Webinar 2 Speaker: Amanda Gcanga, World Resources Institute Afrika / WRI Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities.

About Us

Bauhaus Earth is an interdisciplinary and international Think-and-Make-Tank based in Berlin. The non-profit organisation is dedicated to the regenerative transformation of the built environment. Founded in 2019 by climate scientist Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, today, Bauhaus Earth brings together ca. 50 experts from the fields of science, architecture and planning, governance, and industry. We conduct applied transformation research to drive systemic change, promoting the shift to bio- and geo-based materials, circular construction, the adaptive reuse of existing building stock, the restoration of biodiversity, and the development of cities as natural carbon sinks.
