This was our vision to transform the Danish Parliament. Together with JAJA Architects and Varmings Tegnestue our proposal merges existing historic architecture with contemporary elements to provide visitors a glimpse into the inner workings of government. At the core of our design is a desire to honor the existing building's openness and cultural heritage. The connecting premises at Christiansborg symbolize various eras and have undergone multiple transformations, primarily acting as a link between Slotsholmen's structures. In alignment with this historical context, we envision expanding the Løngangsbygningen to include a visitor entrance and optimize its functionality as a workplace. Congratulations to Cobe on their winning proposal. And thank you Bygningsstyrelsen for the great collaboration and competition program! Renders by Kvant-1.

Hotel Alsik is a 19-storey contemporary hotel built to serve the historic port town of Sønderborg in Southern Denmark. A lit observation deck recalls the lighthouses common in so many port cities. Hotel Alsik is a landmark in its own right, a central part of the urban plan for the city, which brings substantial urban and commercial activity to an industrial waterfront. In 2022, Alsik Hotel & Spa won the CTBUH Best Tall Building Award of Excellence in the hotel category. The hotel is uplifting the harbor and the city of Sønderborg, driving the town’s urban resurgence and growth as a rising destination in Denmark. The stacked masses of the 190-room hotel part to reveal the historic buildings of the city center behind it, and the façade’s panels glow warmly in certain lights to mimic the red brick of its surroundings. We've designed a new home for Faroese rowing. Central to our urban plan for the town of Klaksvík is a new landmark that celebrates the Faroese sports heritage. The Klaksvík Row Club, equipped with cutting-edge amenities for its athletes, draws both locals and visitors alike with its welcoming views of the surrounding landscapes. Situated within a picturesque fjord that shields from the Atlantic's harsh winds and grants views to neighboring islands, Klaksvík is the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands and home to 5,000 residents. Rowing, the national sport of the Faroe Islands, is a significant part of Faroese culture, with athletes dedicating considerable time and effort to year-round training and competitions against neighboring towns. Traditionally crafted with a single axe and tracing their origins back to Viking times, these boats are included in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The clubhouse serves as a public venue hosting a variety of events and exhibitions, and a notable tourist attraction, proudly showcasing the traditional craftsmanship of Faroese boat-making. We are proud to share that Rifle Range Nature Park and Bukit Canberra Sports and Community Hub have been shortlisted for the 2024 Urban Land Institute Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence. Both projects are examples of how designing with intention can leave a long-lasting impact on the local community. Formerly an abandoned quarry site, the transformation of Rifle Range Nature Park has turned it into a cherished destination in Singapore. Located near the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, one of the last primary forests in the country, Rifle Range Park aims to preserve the island's rainforest ecosystems, which are under threat from development and human activity. Also located in Singapore, Bukit Canberra, spanning 11.8 hectares , is a vibrant community hub nestled in natural surroundings. Housing an indoor sports hall, a polyclinic, an indoor and outdoor gym, swimming pools, childcare and senior centres, an 800-seat hawker centre, and ample green spaces, it's designed with regenerative principles at its core. Congratulations to our clients, partners and our dedicated teams listed below who have worked on these projects! Read more about Rifle Range Nature Park here https://hnglr.sn/3Uou9dM. Inspired by the rhythm of Al-Balad, we are proud to share our design for the Jeddah Opera House. Construction has commenced on a new local landmark for Jeddah. The opera house’s unique architectural identity celebrates life, culture, and local nature and geology. Located on the Red Sea waterfront, the opera is the heart of the new Opera Quarter, part of the wider Jeddah Central masterplan. The identity of the new quarter is driven by its relationship with the landscape, creating a social space that promotes cultural encounters, house events, and becomes a destination for future generations. Designed for inclusive programming, the 150-seat Rehearsal Hall, the mid-scale 750-seat Playhouse theatre, and the 1500-seat opera Red Sea Theatre, are flexible performance spaces which will host world class touring theatres and orchestras, as well other commercial events and community education and outreach. With geometric volumes influenced by Al-Balad, the opera will have a distinct appearance from different perspectives in the area. Local vegetation is incorporated to enhance biodiversity, manage water, and purify the air, while shaded walking routes and building placements optimize microclimate and natural ventilation. We are delighted to share our winning proposal for a new arts center in Bergen, Norway. An addition to the existing Grieghallen AS, Grieg Quarter will blend city, culture, and nature to become historic Bergen’s inviting new destination. The project will expand the area’s creative and natural landscape, featuring a new 17,500m² performing arts and exhibition centre alongside a revitalized plaza that serves as an intimate communal space. The new concert hall will encourage unrestricted movement, exploration, and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. With its close connection to the mountains and water, the plaza will feature local fauna and a water management strategy to support the local ecosystems and everyday visitors. "This project is a demonstration of how a once-negative industrial site can be transformed into a valuable resource for future generations and should be used as an example for other municipalities," That's what the jury had to say about Downsview at the National Urban Design Awards. We are so proud the project has been awarded Canada’s premier accolade for planning and urban design. Together with our incredible team, we have designed the Downsview Framework Plan to reimagine the transformation of 520 acres of the former Downsview Airport and surrounding land in North Toronto into a complete, connected community. The project is set to be the largest urban development in Canada. Developed through an extensive engagement process with the local community and the knowledge of our aforementioned partners, the framework harnesses Danish city-building principles to create a nature-oriented district that will promote a green-minded, human-scale and people-first community. Congratulations to everyone on the team: Northcrest Developments, Canada Lands Company / Société Immobilière du Canada, KPMB Architects, SLA, Urban Strategies Inc., Ramboll, Transsolar KlimaEngineering, Swerhun Inc., and Department of Words and Deeds. Thank you to The Royal Architectural Institute Of Canada | L'Institut royal d'architecture du Canada, Canadian Institute of Planners, and Canadian Society of Landscape Architects for this recognition. World of Volvo is now open and has earned recognition from Forbes as a must-visit destination. "The new experience center seems sure to become a premier tourist attraction in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city," says Forbes. Designed for the famed Swedish brands, Volvo Cars and Volvo Group, World of Volvo is designed around Scandinavian values of freedom of movement, access to nature and openness and inclusion. The main structure, made of glulam and cross-laminated timber, forms three striking tree-trunk-like columns arranged in a mathematical pattern. Fanning out to carry the entire load of the roof, these envelope visitors in a welcoming forest-like canopy. The expansive round structure encourages visitors to create their own journeys both indoors and outdoors, regardless of whether they hold tickets to the exhibition inside. Construction is underway at the Etobicoke Civic Center. Featuring a varied tapestry of squares, courtyards, and buildings of different scales, designed to extend the outdoor season, Etobicoke’s new civic center aims to invite more interaction between people and their environment. The building will include a gathering and civic function space, a community recreation center, a Toronto Public Library district branch, a child-care center, and an outdoor civic plaza. Utilizing thorough site analyses and local thermal studies, the design is both dynamic and coherent, including angled roofs and raised terraces that will optimize the thermal comfort of the surrounding outdoor spaces. Through its architectural expression and inviting street presence, we envision a civic center that will stand out as a landmark in Toronto.
