Last month, Transform Transport published their research work, Free-flow Carsharing Systems Part 1 – A General Overview, where they conducted a preliminary analysis of vehicle #data for a week from a carsharing operator in Milan in 2020. Their aim? Uncover patterns, anticipate research questions, and shed light on the potentials and limitations of dataset analyses based on origin and destination points (where and when the vehicle is rented and parked) acquired in real time through API endpoints: https://lnkd.in/eMVvfThA Building on this, they have just unveiled their latest research, “Free-Flow Carsharing Systems Part 2 – A Spatio-Temporal Approach,” which introduces a quantitative methodology that addresses some of the hypotheses formulated through the data exploration process to understand demand patterns and the relationship between the utilization of carsharing vehicles and urban spatio-temporal patterns. The study analyzed four weeks of free-flow carsharing data in Milan from April 12 to May 9, 2021. Join the conversation and learn more about the evolving landscape of urban mobility and the promise and challenges of free-flow carsharing systems! https://lnkd.in/entPJBr2

Throwback to STEP UP's Final Event at BASE Milano! In February, the #STEPUP team organized an event to conclude "STEP UP – Walkability for Women in Milan" (https://stepup-milan.it/), a #ScientificResearch project funded by Fondazione Cariplo. Our research foundation, Transform Transport, led STEP UP in collaboration with TeMA Lab - Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Sex & the City APS, and Walk21 Foundation. Over 100 people attended. The event comprised a series of insightful talks and discussions centering on the findings of #STEPUP and shedding light on the broader scope of gender-inclusive #mobility planning in #Milan and beyond, offering audience members the opportunity to delve into the diverse findings of the project and engage in fruitful discussions with esteemed guest speakers. "At the heart of a women-friendly city lies safety for everyone," remarked Elena Lattuada, Mayor's Delegate for Gender Equal Opportunity, Municipality of Milan, setting the tone for the talks that came next. Highlights included an interview with human rights advocate Nogaye Ndiaye, exploring perceptions of fear in #PublicSpace from gender and racial perspectives. Architect and editor specializing in environmental issues Donatella Bollani moderated a panel discussion on #gender and #CityDesign, with speakers such as laura galluzzo (Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano), Marco Granelli (Security Councillor, City of Milan), and Giorgia Ziliani (Dare.ngo, Her City Project in Corvetto). Linda Gustafsson, Gender Equality Officer at the Municipality of Umeå, Sweden, shared a data-driven approach to gender equality and showcased examples of public space infrastructure from a woman's perspective. The STEP UP team, in turn, presented the project and the booklet, which provides insights gained from the research process and recommendations for future initiatives in gender-inclusive urban planning. They also talked about #walkability and #InclusiveMobility.
