About us
We are architects and urbanists. We strive to design beautiful buildings that have long life and can adapt over the generations. We also shape enduring places whether new pieces of city or settlements at any scale. All our projects are concerned with the crafting of every detail and an appreciation for the uniqueness of each context. Representing more than forty nationalities and speaking more than twenty languages, we thrive on a friendly, collaborative and supportive atmosphere. We work as one studio, bringing together architects, urban designers and planners, with specialists in conservation, sustainability, interiors, modelmaking, graphic design, communications, community engagement and studio administration.

Our Head of IT, Anthony Silverstone, went out to Houston recently to spend a week with the HP team. Great to be working together. #ZbyHP #innovation
Sustainable urban design gets a productivity boost with Z by HP. With innovative solutions like HP Anyware and Z tech, Allies and Morrison architects can experience seamless performance as if a physical workstation is right under each of their desks. To overcome challenges related to VDI with single core threaded apps, Anthony Silverstone, Head of IT at Allies and Morrison, shared that it drastically cut down file opening times and boosted productivity. #HPFutureReady

Last night was the final installment of week-long series of events to mark Earth Day. Our series - Plastic Places - sought to define and challenge the notion of a single-use place or one made of extractive materials and proposed instead to design places with 'plasticity'. Exploring the idea through a workshop to reimagine our London studios at 85 Southwark Street, a lunchtime talk about the book Materials: An environmental primer with author, Hattie Hartman HonFRIBA, and contributor, Alex Lynes, concluding with an evening of talks delving into examples of our own work with retrofit, material passports and designing with natural materials. Delighted to see Dr Ruth Lang's piece in Architects’ Journal about London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. "[The spaces] reflect a strategy which recognises the value afforded to students in terms of mental wellbeing and social inclusion, ultimately forging stronger students as a result. There are deferential nods to the fondness still felt for the college’s old buildings within this, too. Students can perch in deep reveals in the studios, much as they did before at the historic Lime Grove campus."
Allies and Morrison’s new home for the London College of Fashion at Stratford, east London, provides 40,000m² of space for 5,000 students over 17 storeys.

Yesterday, the Cambridge Association of Architects hosted a great debate on Council-Led Housing in Cambridge & Hackney at Mill Road Community Centre with some brilliant speakers including Benedict Binns, Simon Henley, Max Kettenacker, Ian Bramwell, Ken Rorrison, Antje Saunders, Minna Sunikka-Blank, Molly Savino amongst many others... A carefully curated comparitive day looking at the different approaches and context for both Cambridge and Hackney and how each is delivering council-led homes from council-built, to partnerships, to land-sales. It's not easy, but we found the opportunity is for far greater Community-Led participatory design with Council-Led delivery. Thank you to all those who helped behind the scenes. Not least Ze'ev Feigis to curate the day, but also Sarah Shaw, and Daniel Lee for all their hard work. For more Cambridge Association of Architects events, please visit our website, or subscribe to our fortnightly newsletter. https://lnkd.in/e3W8EzZs

Innovative student projects at the BA Thesis presentation Bauhaus-Universität Weimar I had the pleasure to see the BA Thesis presentations at the Bauhaus University, "Entwerfen und Stadtarchitektur" with Prof. Garkisch yesterday. I was positively surprised to see architecture students fully engaged with themes such as Reuse, Rebuild and Refurbishment of existing fabric in our cities. We should listen and learn.
