Citymapper is a public transit app and mapping service. It integrates data for all urban modes of transport, from walking and cycling to driving, with an emphasis on public transport.

When is a slow train preferable to two fast buses? What's the difference between a Mexican Pesero and a Turkish Minibus? What's the cheapest way to get from one side of London to the other?

It will be your job to answer these questions: to get inside the mind of a city, and help us understand how its inhabitants move around it.

Your understanding of the world's most complex cities will directly influence how we guide people around them. From ensuring we have the most up-to-date timetables to delving into the psychology of what constitutes the "Best" routes, no two days will be alike.

• Talking to our users in New York to understand how to improve the app the city
• Developing relationships with a transit agency in Barcelona to integrate new bus routes
• Making sure our app is ready for a metro strike in Rome, a typhoon in Hong Kong or other commuter nightmares
• Integrating new train schedules for the S-Bahn in Berlin (or working with our engineers and robots to automate this task)
• Discussing with our product team how new features would impact the app in cities like Moscow, Barcelona & Singapore
• Using our secret tools to add a new Pesero route in Mexico City
• Riding our Smartbus and helping to guide the future of the company
• Making cities usable all over the world

• True passion for cities, urban transport and maps with good understanding of how public transport networks operate
• Not afraid of getting your hands dirty working with data in unfriendly formats
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills and passion for teamwork
• Willing to take on more responsibility or specialise as the role evolves
• 2+ years of experience in an analytical, research or data role preferred
• Transit and language knowhow of some of our existing cities is a plus
