We are seeking an Education Facilities Analyst to support the Community Facilities Planner in strategic
planning for education facilities. You will engage in planning for education facilities in 3 main areas:
- In the City’s Ten-Year Capital Strategy and in supporting the School Construction Authority’s Capital Plan
- In neighborhood planning efforts led by DCP’s borough offices
- In analyzing the local impact of development proposals to the City Planning Commission
Your role will be particularly focused on equity, including ensuring that neighborhoods with overcrowded schools, lack of available sites, future expected growth, and/or lower income levels are getting the education facilities needed. This will require a deep understanding of broader planning factors including population growth, demographic shifts, and housing trends.
You will be expected to collaborate with a wide range of subject matter experts. You will work closely with multiple divisions at DCP (including the five borough offices; Population; Housing, Economic, and Infrastructure Planning; Environmental Assessment and Review; Counsel; and Information & Technology), with other agencies (especially the School Construction Authority and the Department of Education), and with City Hall.
