The World Bank Singapore Internship Program 2020 is an initiative of the World Bank’s Country Office in Singapore aiming at supporting local graduates during the weakened job market caused by COVID-19 pandemic. The selected candidates will be offered a competitive salary based on their qualifications and experience, according to the World Bank’s remuneration guidelines.
The World Bank Singapore Office will accept applications through email until 21 June 2020. Urbanization is occurring at an unprecedented pace. Cities generate 80% of global GDP and are key to job creation and the pursuit of shared prosperity. Yet one billion city residents live in slums today, and by 2030 one billion new migrants will arrive in cities. This concentration of people and assets will exacerbate risk exposure to adverse natural events and climate change, which affects the poor disproportionately. The absence of secure land tenure underpins deprivation and is a major source of conflict in the DRM and rural space. Natural hazards are a main source of risk for the poor and present a serious obstacle to achieving sustainable social and economic development. Disasters affect the poor most severely; measures taken to manage hazards and reduce their impact provide an effective vehicle to make substantial advances in the fight against poverty.
The WBG is in a unique position to support national and sub-national clients to: harness urbanization and enable effective land management in support of both growth and poverty reduction; foster social inclusion of marginalized groups; support the responsiveness and fiscal, financial, and management capacities of local governments – cities, municipalities, and rural districts – to deliver local infrastructure and decentralized services; strengthen resilience and risk management related to natural disasters; reduce conflict and violence; and scale-up access to finance for sub-national governments.

To be eligible for the World Bank Singapore Internship Program 2020, candidates must be Singapore citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents or local students/scholars with a valid work authorization in Singapore. They must have graduated or be graduating in the calendar year 2020 from an accredited university.
The World Bank Singapore Office seeks candidates for our Operations in the following fields: economics, finance, infrastructure development, private public partnership, agriculture, environment, urban planning, disaster risk management, water resources, transportation, digital development, energy, social development and other related fields; or Corporate support (e.g. Accounting, Treasury, and other corporate services).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of other languages such as French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese is desirable.
