We are looking for a full time PhD researcher to work on developing innovative ways to enable and carry out adaptive planning practices.

Today, conventional planning practices are increasingly challenged by the growing complexity of interdependent planning parameters as well as the number and degree of socio-economic and environmental uncertainties. While we are witnessing an influx of technical possibilities in the realm of planning, a critical review and a practical deployment in the field is lacking behind. This, however, is crucial in order to advance towards sustainable and equitable urban futures.

The position is funded through a RSB scholarship for 4 years.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Candidate must have a relevant Masters degree;
• Highly motivated individual with capacity to work independently.
• Strong team spirit;
• Experience and knowledge in urban design or planning and critical urban studies. Good time management and planning;

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Capability/hands-on experience with urban planning, geospatial modeling tools
• Familiar with at least one scripting/computer language (e.g. Python, R, Fortran);
• Experience in qualitative research;
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English
