Planning Building Environment Facullty, Institute of Urban and Regional Planning offers an open position of a University Professor – salary grade W3 for the chair of "Urban Planning and Urban Regeneration". Reference number: VI-228/19 (starting at 01/10/20 / permanent / closing date for applications 10/05/19).
The professorship represents the department of Urban Planning and Urban Regeneration in research and teaching. The focus of the professorship are the application and further development of urban planning strategies and instruments at the interplay of city districts and city regions as well as the regeneration and adaption of existing cities and neighborhoods to rapidly changing social conditions and future challenges such as climate protection, demographic change, mediatization and digitization.
Comprehensive knowledge is expected in several of the following areas: integ-rated and cooperative urban development planning, urban systems and their actors and actions as learning systems, urban planning in (metropolitan) regions, further development and research on methods and instruments of formal and informal planning and participation (e.g. by digitalization), cross-sectoral and multi-scale planning (e.g. housing, energy, transport) and ways of implementation, development and evaluation of support and funding instruments and policies.
Teaching assignments include classes in the German-language Bachelor and Master program "Urban and Regional Planning" as well as in English in the international study programs "Urban Design" and "Urban Planning and Mobility". Furthermore, contributions to the courses „Urban Development“ at the Campus El Gouna are desirable. The continuation and development of activities in international networks, especially with strategic partners of the TU is also desired. The teaching needs to provide an introduction and deepening in strategies, procedures and instruments of urban planning and urban regeneration. Applicants should have a background in urban planning and know how of urban generation in national and international context.
