About Us

The Climate Council provides independent, authoritative climate change information to the Australian public. Why? Because our response to climate change should be based on the best science available.

About the Role

The Cities Power Partnership is Australia’s largest and most active local government climate network, run by the Climate Council. We’re a fast growing team made up of expert Councillors, staff, volunteers and supporters. Together we are doing everything we can to accelerate and celebrate Australian local government’s clean energy successes. The Cities Power Partnership is a national program with members in every state and territory and the role may, therefore, require some travel within Australia.

The Cities Power Partnership (CPP) Program Development Manager focuses on establishing and managing relationships with new and existing CPP member councils and with key external stakeholders, as well as on the production of key program events. The primary purpose of the role is to work with members to ensure that, as the program grows, it develops in a manner that remains well aligned to the needs of member councils, and continues to deliver real value in a rapidly transforming operating environment.

About You

  • A go-getter, is self-motivated and responsive and can work effectively in a small, fast-paced and highly collaborative team to get the job done.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the local government sector and what makes councils tick, particularly an appreciation of the opportunities for them to take climate action and barriers they face in doing so
  • Great on the phone with email and with a CRM, and loves maintaining relationships with members and stakeholders
  • Highly organised and has had direct experience in the planning and delivery of significant events and projects
  • Quickly able to assimilate information, fact-check content and contribute to the development of sharp public communications
  • Able to act with initiative and is confident to present new thinking or make suggestions to improve the success of the program.

What We Offer

The Cities Power Partnership is a project of the Climate Council, an influential not-for-profit organisation and this exciting role will provide the candidate access to some of the best and brightest minds working in climate science, communications and advocacy. This is your chance to make a meaningful contribution to climate change action.

The role is offered on the following terms

  • Full time ongoing contract
  • Annual salary of $75 - 80K exclusive of superannuation (contingent on experience).
  • Based in our central Melbourne office (currently working from home due to COVID-19).

Additional benefits include:

  • Excellent learning and development opportunities both internally and externally
  • Programs for time off in lieu and flexible working arrangements.
  • A brilliant work culture which is results focused but also vibrant, supportive, fun and nimble.
