ISUH has an extensive worldwide membership, and hosts an annual meeting, the International Conference for Urban Health (ICUH), which will hold its 17th edition this year. ISUH also advances specific projects related to the promotion of healthy, sustainable and just cities.

About the Project:

The ISUH has recently been awarded a two-year project for Sustainable & Equitable Urban Development, to advance learning and capacity in equity-driven sustainable urban development. Key project activities include the identification and assessment of equity driven policies, programs and initiatives in diverse cities worldwide and creation a shared narrative for the prioritization and integration of equity in urban development. The project will work with regional hubs worldwide to leverage knowledge sharing and collaborative learning.

The ISUH is seeking a Project Lead to manage this project in partnership with ISUH staff over the next two years. This project will take place within the dynamic and growing portfolio of ISUH activities and make significant contributions to the urban health field. We are seeing a motivated professional to join the team and provide leadership for its successful implementation.

Dedication: Full-time position (40h/week)

Start Date: January 2022

Location: Remote, the project work is based worldwide and the candidate must have ability for some international travel to regional meetings.

Salary: Staff position, 2-year salaried contract

Reports To: Giselle Sebag, ISUH Executive Director, and is supported by a half-time Research Assistant

Position Description: ISUH is seeking a motivated Project Leader to manage all aspects of the project to ensure successful completion of project activities and compliance with donor requirements. The Project Leader with support from the ISUH team, will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day execution of the project. This includes development of the technical aspects as well as project management activities such as budget management and reporting.

Roles/Responsibilities:

• Provide oversight and management of all aspects of the S&EUD project implementation
• Ensure fluid communication between ISUH, the donor and compliance with all donor requirements
• Coordinate and supervise project staff, including research assistant, regional hub leads, communications consultants, IT and other support staff
• Develop an equity learning and assessment mechanism to measure and asses identified projects and
• Establish and coordinate the 6 regional hubs
• Plan and execute project meetings (internationally) with the support of local partners
• Work with the ISUH team to identify and develop knowledge sharing products (webinars, films, storytelling, media articles)
• Work with the online platform provider and supervise all aspects of website development.
• Work with the Communications Consultant to ensure preparation and dissemination of project information, successes and outputs
• Connect the project to other related global initiatives
• Travel to attend meetings as required
• Participate in ISUH meetings and events as relevant
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

Key Qualifications:

• Graduate education in public health, social sciences, or urban planning/development
• At least 3-5 years job experience in public health, healthy equity, monitoring, evaluation and assessment science or related is required
• Experience in urban planning and/or development is a plus
• Knowledge of literature reviews, scoping exercises, analysis and development of assessment frameworks
• Experience in project management and the supervising of staff
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven attention to detail
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software, calendar and online meeting platform scheduling (teams, zoom)
• Proficiency with digital and social media platforms is an asset
• Ability to work effectively independently and as a team
• Ability to interact with diverse, international partners
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, identify priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, including flexibility and ability to learn new skills quickly on the job
• Fluency in English is required, other languages are an asset
• Cultural competency and experience working with international teams is desirable

Remote working environment regularly coordinating with multiple time zones.

$58,000 to $70,000 annually
