The Mayor’s Office of the CTO believes that our mission to use technology to deliver economic opportunity is well served by giving talented graduate students the chance to lead projects. This summer we have opportunities across each of our verticals: NYCx, NYC Digital, NYC Connected, NYC Forward, and our Strategy and Operations team.
Strategy and Operations
Our StratOps team supports the entire office in strategy, communications, and intergovernmental affairs services. We are looking for a communications and branding intern to support our Director of Communications in ensuring that the team is communicating effectively with New Yorkers. Responsibilities will include tracking and responding to speaking engagements, managing content edits to office materials, and managing social media.
NYCx
NYCx works with communities to identify urgent priorities, and challenges the brightest technologists in the world to solve for them. We are looking for an intern to support the development of our Moonshot program. Responsibilities will include supporting the NYCx team on our challenge based programming and research projects to gain new insights on relevant emerging and breakthrough technology trends.
NYC Digital
Our team helps City agencies create user-focused digital services and connect with New Yorkers digitally, without losing the human touch. We are looking for a program management intern who is interested in experience modernizing a large organization like NYC.gov. Responsibilities will include: strategizing and managing a yearly conference for the City’s digital workers, leading select digital projects, and managing relationships with our agency clients.
NYC Connected
NYC Connected works to connect all New Yorkers with affordable, high-speed internet and ensure they have the technical and social support to thrive online. We are looking for two interns to help us with our assessment of public computer centers and digital literacy programs, and to support our policy efforts on net neutrality and privacy. Responsibilities will include: gathering information from libraries, City agencies and other partners through site visits and interviews, conducting policy research, and organizing meetings and events.
NYC Forward
NYC Forward helps city government make use of IoT+ technology. We are looking for an intern to assist with our Co-Labs, which invite New Yorkers in select neighborhoods to help us scale technologies in a responsible fashion. Responsibilities will include: conducting research on IoT best practices, contributing to written reports, and managing relationships with City agencies.
Our internship program is full time and runs from June 4th to August 31st, 2018. We offer a $6,300 stipend.
