EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Since January 2019 we have been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. We aim to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. Co-funding of up to € 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT, a body of the European Union, will help make this happen.
EIT Urban Mobility is looking for an officer with a technical background and commercial mindset to
complement the Targeted Projects Team in Barcelona. The Targeted projects programme is a new Innovation
programme that will address the gaps in Innovation’s existing project portfolio and respond to new and
emerging technologies. The officer will play a vital role in the programme’s initial phases and support the
scouting, selection, development, and monitoring of the Programme’s targeted projects. The officer will work
with existing and new community partners to devise suitable projects and to build projects and partnerships
with a strong technical and commercial focus.
The Targeted Projects Officer will report directly to the Targeted Projects Manager for day-to-day line
management and strategic direction.
EIT Urban Mobility’s Innovation’s role is to bring new urban mobility innovations to the market and to create
more liveable urban spaces. The Innovation team currently has 18 staff members in headquarters and five
Innovation Officers in Innovation Hubs across Europe.
▪ Assisting in selection and development of new projects, including consortium formation, project concept
development and project planning.
▪ Monitoring progress of ongoing projects, evaluating technology development and assessing financial
sustainability.
▪ Supporting creation of new targeted project program and establishing EIT processes for targeted awards.
▪ Setting up and running public competitions such as open calls, RfPs and EoIs.
▪ Keeping updated on trends and technologies in urban mobility, identifying gaps in the EIT Urban Mobility
project portfolio.
We put a high value on individual qualities and personal attributes. We are looking for someone who
strives to make a difference as an individual and together within a team.
The ideal candidate would also have:
▪ 5+ years experience in technical projects in the fields of mobility, energy, innovation, digital
technologies, mass transit, and freight/logistics.
▪ 2+ years in client-facing roles (e.g, consulting/B2B sales)
▪ Strong technical background, ability to evaluate risks/opportunities in technical projects/products
▪ Strong business writing, research and analytical skills
▪ Strong problem-solving, proactive attitude, able to navigate complex regulations, matrixed
organization.
Experience in the below would be considered as a plus:
▪ Expertise in project conceptualisation and building consortia for international innovation projects,
involving SMEs, large companies, industry and cities
▪ Expertise in running public competitions, open calls, RFPs, EoIs, and procurements
▪ Experience with European funding programs such as Horizon Europe
EDUCATION
▪ A level of education completed in a technical Master’s Degree such as Business Engineering, Civil
Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree with commensurate experience.
▪ Fluent in English (C1 level). Any other EU languages to be a plus.

The position is based in Barcelona.
Permanent and full-time position, with possibility to homework up to 2 days a week.
No relocation expenses are assigned.
Some travel is expected.
