About the Programme

PRACTICAL GIS SKILLS FOR YOUR URBAN CAREER

Co-produced by All Things Urban and The GeoSpatial Hub, this 6-week online course is built specifically for people who work on cities: planners, designers, architects, mobility and real estate professionals, policy makers and researchers.

Most GIS tutorials are generic. This one isn't. Every tool, dataset and exercise is chosen for how urban professionals actually work: site analysis, zoning, mobility data, market analysis, policy evidence. You go from any starting level to running your own spatial analysis in QGIS, and you finish with a portfolio-ready project, a certificate, and skills you can apply at work immediately.

Now with AI-aided GIS workflows built into the programme. The 2026 edition adds dedicated classes on using LLMs and map-connected AI tools alongside QGIS for data preparation, analysis and interpretation. The focus is on real urban use cases: where AI adds value, where it doesn't, and how to use it without losing spatial reasoning or analytical rigour.

What you'll be able to do after 6 weeks:

  • Set up and navigate QGIS confidently
  • Find, import and organise geospatial data, and work with projections
  • Manage layers, attributes, styling and data-driven visualisation
  • Run geoprocessing operations: buffer, clip, intersection, overlay, statistical analysis
  • Build field calculations and QGIS expressions
  • Geocode locations and create accessibility isochrones
  • Design, export and share professional maps
  • Apply GIS fundamentals to AI-assisted workflows

Format: 6 weeks, up to 4 hours per week, designed to fit a full-time job. Modules 1 to 3 are recorded and self-paced; modules 4 to 6 are live masterclasses, with weekly live Q&As on Advanced and Premium plans. Everything is recorded and available within 24 hours.

Track record: 400+ graduates from 45+ countries. 96% recommend the course.

Your instructor is Juan Pablo Corral, urban planner, architect and GIS expert, Co-Founder and Director of Applied GIS & Education at The GeoSpatial Hub. He brings 10+ years of GIS on real urban projects and 50+ international consulting projects, is an APA-accredited trainer, and has taught and researched at institutions from the LSE to Harvard GSD. He has trained 500+ urban practitioners through All Things Urban and GeoSpatial Hub programmes.
