University of Washington's online Master of Infrastructure Planning & Management degree prepares you to lead the development of the next generation of critical infrastructure systems ­­— resilient, secure and accessible.

The UW Master of Infrastructure Planning & Management is designed for early- and mid-career professionals who want advanced training in infrastructure planning and management.

Because this is a fully online program, we welcome and encourage applicants from all over the world, including deployed military personnel.

International Students

Because the Master of Infrastructure Planning & Management is completely online, no visa is required and international applicants are welcome and encouraged to apply.

International applicants must meet all admission requirements for the program. Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. The UW Graduate School’s Memo 8 describes several ways to do this. Test scores must be sent directly to the UW by the Educational Testing Service using institution code 4854. Only scores less than two years old will be accepted.

Minimum Admission Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or its equivalent from a foreign institution
• A minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the last 60 graded semester credits or the last 90 graded quarter credits
• At least one college-level course in mathematics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Demonstrated English-language proficiency for applicants whose native language is not English

• Unofficial transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (including community colleges), even if your transfer credits show on the transcript from your degree-granting institution
• Resume or curriculum vitae
• Statement of purpose
• Supplemental information form
• Three letters of recommendation
• Proof of English language proficiency (if English is not your native language)
• Note: GRE scores are NOT required.

The MIPM degree is a part-time, two-year program. Students take two courses a quarter, with the exception of one quarter when you take one, for eight consecutive quarters. Each course is three credits each, and you’ll earn 45 credits in all.
