A free live webinar on transport poverty — real cases, expert speakers, and the launch of a new training course.
Transport poverty shapes daily life for millions of people across Europe and beyond — the parent unable to reach childcare on time, the shift worker priced out of the only bus route, the student who cuts classes because the last connection leaves too early. Yet most transport planning still treats these as edge cases rather than a measurable, addressable problem.
This free live webinar opens the Tackling Transport Poverty: Strategies for Equitable Mobility course to the public — a structured training programme developed by University College London (UCL), FACTUAL and the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC), co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility.
In 90 minutes, you'll get:
- A sharp framing of what transport poverty actually is — the structural pillars and dimensions of exclusion behind it — from Prof. Karen Lucas from the University of Manchester
- A real, on-the-ground case study from Bogotá, showing how one city is tackling the problem in practice.
- A live panel and Q&A, with the floor open to your questions.
- A first look at the course itself, including how to enrol and where scholarships are available.
About the course: Tackling Transport Poverty: Strategies for Equitable Mobility is a 30+ hour training programme blending livestreamed sessions, self-paced modules and an applied case study, running online from 5 October 2026. A full-day workshop version is also available in Barcelona on 2 November. The course has an early-bird enrolment campaign (€270) and limited fully-funded scholarships.
