About the Event

Achieving local convenience in a contemporary city is becoming a synonym for the high quality of life of urbanites, especially in cities with complex, polycentric structures (like Warsaw). In the polycentric model, few districts can coexist and offer something slightly different for the urban inhabitant, while also functioning as a self-contained "city within a city." When these city-districts are built around well-planned transit infrastructure, well-connected public spaces, and mixed-use developments for work, housing, and leisure, they begin to suggest the best opportunity to create a sustainable future for their inhabitants. Is this model an answer to the post-pandemic world?
Monika Konrad is an architect and urban planner, she gained a professional background in studios like OMA and Claus en Kaan Architecten in the Netherlands and in Moscow as a project director at consulting company Strelka KB. Monika is an author of numerous urban standards and strategic projects on a citywide scale and a designer of urban and architectural projects. Currently, she holds the position of the Director of Municipal Office of Town Planning and Development Strategy in the City of Warsaw.
