A 2-hour live workshop on the foundations of effective teams, run privately for your organisation and built around the urbanists on your team. Start with the two hours, or extend it into a longer programme tailored to your organisation.
Facilitated by Nina Burke · brought to you by All Things UrbanBuilt for people working on complex urban projects. It is most useful for teams that are newly formed, teams that work across organisations, and teams that have been together a while and feel the way they work needs a reset.
A new project, a new department, or a new lead. Launch the team properly instead of letting it just happen.
Consortia, partnerships and multi-stakeholder projects, where people don't report to you and alignment is everything.
You have been working together for a while and want a structured way to reset norms, roles, and how you decide.
The six key conditions that make teams work, and how to put them in place through a team launch or re-launch.
How to get a solid yet flexible structure in place to meet your team's goals, from norms and roles to decision-making.
How to organize and facilitate effective team meetings, with the cadence, agendas, and roles that keep them useful.
Urban projects are delivered by teams that cut across disciplines, organizations, and sectors. At All Things Urban we see it every day: the craft is taught, the teamwork is not. Yet research shows that most of a team's success is decided by conditions you can set up deliberately.
Based on the research behind the 6 Team Conditions framework (Hackman and Wageman, Harvard): the biggest levers are the ones this workshop covers, designing and (re)launching your team well.
Every participant leaves with the materials to carry the work forward, designed jointly by Nina Burke Consulting and All Things Urban. The templates are your organisation's to reuse across teams and projects.
This isn't a webinar you watch from the back row. It's a working session, and it works best when the people who share a team do it together.
Everyone assesses the same team against the same conditions, so the gaps are visible to all of you at once, not just to the lead.
Norms, roles, decision rights and meeting design become words your whole team uses, which is what makes them stick after the session.
You leave with a concrete plan agreed in the room, not one person's notes to sell to everyone else afterwards.
Nina Burke is a consultant and facilitator who believes that leadership is a practice and not a position. Her educational background (MPH) is in public health which led her down the path of systems change and leadership development.
She is passionate about helping others to create the conditions for dynamic, effective teams, and fun teams. She has particular interest in supporting teams working on complex and consequential projects in urbanism, health, and the built-environment.
Nina is also Co-Lead of the All Things Urban Brussels Chapter, where she brings urban professionals together locally.
The workshop is the starting point. Depending on what your team needs, we can extend it in depth or over time, and shape it around your projects, your structure and your challenges.
Two hours, live. A shared understanding of what makes teams effective, and a plan for your team. The right fit for one team that wants a strong, shared foundation.
More time on your own team. Norms, roles, decision rights and meeting design worked through in depth, with the exercises built on your real projects.
Several sessions over weeks or months, with follow-up between them. For departments, project consortia, or organisations with more than one team to bring along.
Pricing is per session or per programme, not per seat, and depends on format and tailoring.
We reply with a quote within two working days.
Leadership and team effectiveness are core professional development skills, so most organisations can cover this through a learning and development, training or HR budget. We wrote the email for you. Copy it, attach the overview, and send it to whoever signs off.
Hi [name], I came across a 2-hour workshop on the foundations of effective teams, run by Nina Burke together with All Things Urban as a private session for organisations. It covers team (re)launches, norms, roles, decision-making and running effective meetings, and it is tailored to the team taking part. We would leave with a shared assessment of how we work and a concrete plan we all own. I think it would be a good fit for us. Could we propose it to [manager / L&D]?
The workshop is designed as an interactive working group, so it works best with one team, department or project consortium at a time. If you have several teams, or want to go deeper than two hours, we design a longer programme: a half-day or full day, or several sessions over time.
Online by default, live and fully interactive. On-site delivery is possible by arrangement. Before the session we agree the date, confirm who is attending, and Nina tailors the examples and exercises to your team's projects and challenges.
Pricing is per session or per programme, not per seat, and depends on format, length and tailoring. Tell us about your team and we will send a quote within two working days. We invoice your organisation directly and can provide any information needed for internal approval or procurement. Write to hello@allthingsurban.net.
