Today’s session at #COP28Dubai was crucial. Panelists, including Tan Sri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid (Fellow, International Science Council Foundation), Datuk Seri Paduka Maimunah Mohd Sharif (Executive Director, UN-Habitat), and Datuk Ali Abdul Kadir (Chairman Amanah Lestari Alam -ALAM), delved into the pressing topics of ‘Climate Change and Sustainable Urbanization.’ They highlighted how these global issues impact human health, the environment, and the economy. The connection between urbanization and climate change is risky, demanding immediate attention. We need careful planning, smart design, and significant investment in building sustainable cities. If we don’t act together, more people will face serious challenges. It’s not just about climate change; it affects our economy, our way of life, and creates social problems. The main message from the session is clear: Governments at all levels must step up. They need to take a lead role in tackling these challenges, implementing comprehensive strategies to build resilient, sustainable cities. #ClimateAction #SustainableCities #COP28

SIGNING CEREMONY OF AN ADDENDUM TO THE MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION BETWEEN THE UNITED NATIONS HUMAN SETTLEMENTS PROGRAMME (UN-HABITAT) AND URBANICE MALAYSIA December 6, 2023 Malaysia Pavilion at COP28 Dubai, UAE On August 10, 2022, UN-Habitat and URBANICE Malaysia entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation to collaborate and form a strategic partnership in the spirit of trust and cooperation. This partnership aims to advance the commitments of the 2030 Development Agenda at the local level and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. An additional sub-clause, number 4, has been incorporated as follows: "Provision of guidance in the establishment and operation of Malaysia's initiative towards a regional Urban Agenda Platform." We are honored to have the presence of the Honourable Mr. Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Local Government Development of Malaysia, and Her Excellency Dato’ Sri Maimunah Mohd Shariff, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), as witnesses for the signing of this ADDENDUM TO THE MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION.
