After considering the feedback from the growing LED Community, we have decided to start with one workshop that we think will be foundational to everything else. In this 2-day workshop we will look at the intersection of design, the economy and personal purpose. We will then work together on real issues to reframe design challenges into inspiring, practical design briefs. We have attached a detailed agenda below to help you decide if this workshop feels right for you. More information on https://lnkd.in/dFeJipGn cc Emily Harris, FCA Dark Matter Labs

𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 With still large parts of the energy systems in Spain, Portugal, and France recovering, I even more appreciate the work of Jonas Birgersson ( ViaEuropa ) Markus Paulsson and Viable Cities to make the European Commission #energycommunities framework come to live in Lund Sweden. Years after providing the whole of Sweden with affordable broadband access, Jonas with EnergyNet has developed an open standard for energy sharing, the Energy Protocol (EP) aimed at the "Internetification" of energy distribution. Last Saturday, I was happy to attend the official launch in the City of Lund of EnergyNet which allows more sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy, leading in turn to more affordable housing, new forms of energy ownership and investment, a higher security of supply, and strengthened resilience. The system works via a decentralized and distributed approach, using energy routers that coordinate the electrical currents both in AC and DC (to serve e.g. alternating current to the central grid and the house grids, direct current to solar cells, batteries, EV charging stations as well as to the next energy router in the grid). Solving the world’s most pressing challenges – from climate crisis to social inequality – requires unprecedented levels of collaboration. Often, this involves many diverse organisations from different sectors, bringing varied perspectives and forms of value to the table. This is the realm of “complex collaboration.” Our project, Many-to-Many, delves into this space. It’s not about inventing collaboration itself but about exploring and improving the ways we structure it, particularly the governance, legal and operational frameworks that underpin these vital partnerships. Place, Proximity, Localism and Systems Change: We instinctively reach for shorthand—place, localism, proximity—whenever we sense that a web of relationships is unusually vivid or alive. Yet these words are only proxies for something deeper: the relationality that allow a system to “do” itself—to maintain, repair its parts, and reinvent its own choreography……… This is an Titch I have wanted to scatrch - welcome a discussion and others points of view below..

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭? 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 I've long admired Indy Johar's provocations. He and Dark Matter Labs are great at imagining how society's underlying infrastructures could evolve, and I think this is one of his clearest pieces yet! What if we stopped allowing ourselves to be reduced to mere subjects of state power or passive consumers in heavily structured markets? What if we created a 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 with a 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, where we actively shape our communal reality? What if we stopped seeing local governance merely as a "sub-state" (a lower rung defined by higher powers) and instead reimagined it as a 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 drawing legitimacy from community-based governance? Five infrastructures that could form the root system of a new civic ecosystem: 🕸️ 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 & 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 - Preserving peer-to-peer exchange networks and maker spaces outside centralized systems. ⚖️ 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐰𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - Creating community-managed funds for legal challenges that defend and expand our rights. 💰 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐰𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 (𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬) - Developing community currencies and financial systems anchored in local assets and values. 📝 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 ++ (𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧-𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝, 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞) - Supporting independent news and storytelling platforms that shape our collective self-awareness and foster critical dialogue. 🏛️ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬' 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬' 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬' 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - Creating deliberative bodies that ground decision-making in local context and experience. I'm familiar with some actors focused on these areas such as: 🕸️ (CIVIC SQUARE, Participatory City Foundation); ⚖️ (Systemic Justice); 💰 (Freetown's tree token scheme, REconomy Centre in Totnes); 📝 (Unbias The News); 🏛️ ( DemocracyNext, People Powered, Katy Rubin). And then there are those who are doing vital storytelling to weave these different citizen stories together like Jon Alexander and Baratunde Thurston (#citizening). What other examples have you seen of these principles in action? I'd be especially interested to know where bureaucratic actors are actively encouraging such civic infrastructure! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/erERrTyE #CivicInnovation #CivicInfrastructure

New Speaker announcement: Simon Höher joins FD25 📣 Every challenge becomes an opportunity. Due to unforeseen travel logistics affecting Indy Johar’s journey to Lisbon, we’re excited to welcome another brilliant mind from Dark Matter Labs: Simon Höher. Simon will join us to help reimagine the systems that shape our world—diving into topics like public innovation, digital transformation, and systems thinking. Simon is the Systems Change Lead at Dark Matter Labs, where he works across just transition processes, public innovation, and digital transformation. With a rich background in sociology, political science, economics, and philosophy—anchored in Systems Theory—he brings a deeply interdisciplinary lens to the complex work of reshaping our shared future. Currently, Simon supports the European Commission's NetZeroCities Mission, helping 100 cities transition toward climate neutrality. His work spans global collaborations with organizations such as the UNDP, World Economic Forum, African Centre for Cities, Stiftung Mercator GmbH, Mozilla Foundation, CityLAB Berlin, and many more. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Social Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he helps nurture the next generation of systems thinkers. ✨ At FD25, Simon will share insights from the frontlines of systemic transformation—inviting us to rethink how we design governance, infrastructure, and the invisible architectures that shape our future. We’re excited to welcome Simon to the Future Days stage and extend our thanks to Indy for the inspiration he continues to bring to our community 🙏 Video credits: BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt
