Ever heard of “följeforskning”? The concept is related to action research and developmental evaluation, where a researcher joins a team of practitioners to do research together with them and provide continuous feedback, reflections and results based on theory to impact in real-time the quality and direction of the work. Listen in to Viable Cities upcoming Climate Breakfast on May 22 to explore “följeforskning” and why it is relevant in accelerating the transition to climate neutral cities. The webinar is provided in collaboration with CapaCITIES.
What makes “följeforskning” special in terms of benefits and challenges? Why it is especially relevant in accelerating the transition to climate neutral cities? What role it can play for both cities and national support platforms? 🤔 In Sweden, researchers have worked closely together with cities and innovation actors to support them in steering sustainability transitions by contributing to learning from practice, increased reflexivity and helping to identify evidence about system change. This role got the name of ‘följeforskare’ (literal translation from Swedish is ‘following’ or ‘companion’ researcher). The concept is related to action research and developmental evaluation, where the researcher joins a team of practitioners to do research together with them and provide continuous feedback, reflections and results based on theory to impact in real-time the quality and direction of the work. Join us for our next Climate Breakfast next week, where we will explore "följeforskning" together with: • Dr Erica Eneqvist, The City of Stockholms stad • Dr Kateryna Pereverza, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan Royal Institute of Technology • Dr Emily Wise, Lund University 🗓️: May 22 ⏰: 08:08 - 08:58 📍: Online via Zoom 🌐: https://lnkd.in/dA2Hju7k This Climate Breakfast is provided in collaboration with CapaCITIES and will be in English. #följeforskning #CompanionResearcher #ClimateNeutralCities

♻How can initiatives like libraries for sharing tools and other items thrive? These initiatives can drive circular economy in cities, yet there is a need to address some barriers people face to expand to new locations María José Zapata Campos, Associate Professor at University of Gothenburg and Coordinator of the DUT project Circular Grassroots, explains what the project is set to achieve: ✅ Explore how to expand grassroots innovations such as collaborative housing, repairing and recycling, food circularities and sharing economy. ✅ Identify how to increase the engagement of volunteers and how to overcome barriers when collaborating with local governments ✅ Provide municipality officers and other stakeholders with advice to spread these initiatives 📽 Watch this and other project videos https://lnkd.in/dNziMGdg 📌Project partners CNRS, Chalmers University of Technology, Écopôle CPIE Pays de Nantes, Fundacio Universitaria Balmes, Universitat de Barcelona, University of Amsterdam, and other cooperation partners Find out more⬇ https://lnkd.in/dDtM9Z2a #circulareconomy #researchproject #urbandevelopment #socialinitiatives #urbaninnovatio #reuse #recycle #repair
