We are thrilled to introduce Lucy Millichamp, our new intern! She is an expert in architecture and participatory design processes. Having studied her bachelor’s degree in architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, Lucy went on to study her master's degree at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Delft University of Technology on a full scholarship. Passionate about the intersection between architecture, urbanism and social sustainability; Lucy is excited to bring her global experience to local contexts. Lucy will be working with us to develop visionary strategies for both the metropolitan region of Berlin-Brandenburg and a territory in Georgia. Welcome to the team, Lucy! We are so happy to have you :) #TSPA #urbandesign #studio #team #berlin

We - that is CRISIL Limited TSPA and MLA+ It is great to work with knowledgable colleagues and the many different officers involved in urban development and learn from each other when jointly working towards ambitious, yet realistic and implementable solutions. Peer-to-peer learning allows planners and urban decision-makers to come together, reflect on, and exchange their experiences as practitioners. We had the pleasure of hosting Ioane Menabde from the SUDA • Spatial and Urban Development Agency from Georgia and Akaki Zerekidze from NCD • New City Development last week in Berlin, to exchange on key issues related to strategic development, spatial planning, capacity building, and finding a path that works. Integrated urban development approaches and instruments were the main focus of site visits in Berlin and meetings with Henning Roser and Lars Loebner from the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development. Experts joined in the open exchange at TSPA, including Jochen Rabe, Stefan Heinig, and Matthias Trénel. As cultural learning is a key part of knowledge exchange in urban planning, one of the main activities was a Supra - a traditional Georgian gathering and feast, hosted at TSPA. Over shared food we get to know each other, have a space for open dialogue and exchange, and enjoy ourselves.

There is increased interest on international exchange around integrated urban development and on how various tools for affordable housing, density, and mixed-use can be used in specific contexts. This was the case today, at the Dialogues for Urban Change #D4UC Ukraine-Germany network meeting. On behalf of TSPA, Isabell Enssle presented a toolbox of innovative and helpful planning tools for the development of more affordable housing and denser and mixed-use cities in Germany and the U.S.  This cross-network dialogue allowed for a shared brainstorming of how certain approaches within the toolbox could be used in Ukraine’s network. Thank you to Bürogemeinschaft Gauly & Volgmann (bgh.), #BMWSB, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH for the possibility of participating in this interlinkage of all three networks. We look forward to this continued dialogue! More information will be coming soon on the publishing of TSPA's toolbox. #D4UC #HousingForALL #BMWSB #BBSR #GIZ #TSPA #urbanplanning #liveableneighbourhood #neighbourhood #cities

“Beyond: Tomorrow” - What happens after considering the challenges of growth and climate change? As a guest judge, Isabell Enssle joined the AIV Schinkel Committee to deliberate on the proposals for an urban development model for Berlin-Brandenberg, The competition called for approaches to address the challenges of climate change, scarcity of resources, societal change, and the shift in mobility, to create a livable city. Interdisciplinarity and cooperation among different disciplines is a main aspect of the competition, having students from multiple fields participate. The final jury meeting with all categories (landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning, civic engineering, fine arts, traffic planning) will be on Saturday. The official award ceremony is 13. March. We look forward to seeing the final outcome! Check out these links for more information: https://lnkd.in/eiNszgNX

On Wednesday, 14th, students from the International Program in Urban Design and Urban Studies at the Institut für Stadtplanung Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg presented fascinating and innovative proposals for post-extraction scenarios in the small village of Keyenberg, located in the North-Rhine Westphalia region, Germany. The students were challenged to provide various solutions for the urban environment of Keyenberg as a crucial move towards achieving a sustainable, low-carbon future. The topic presented its challenges; however, we genuinely believe that aspiring architects and urban designers must begin building a diverse skill set. This is essential for tackling the complex issues that our regions, cities, and societies are currently grappling with. Well done to Ahmed Hassan, Süreyya Akın, Muhammed Ali BAYAM, Laura Trastoy Torregrosa, Solina Makar, Nagaraja Keerthana, Bhatt Rakshita, and Prajna Kumaraswamy. We would like to thank our guest critics: Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Anna Lundqvist (B-TU) and Arch. Alessandra Sammartino (TSPA). The studio was held by V.P. Thomas Stellmach and A.P. Ph.D. Andrea Fantin #studieren #studium #Cottbus #Senftenberg #BTUCS #urbanregeneration #stadtplanung #urbandesign
