New Fellows Wanted – Become part of the Urban Ideation Lab!

This past year has shown us how diverse the Lab is and how relevant its topics are. Since September 2021, the UIL and its Fellows have first addressed the question of designing inclusive, public spaces. Using the concept of Supportive Environments, the Lab has developed numerous solutions to these questions in the form of interventions in public urban spaces. Interventions that address and interact with our pervasive emotions. In spring 2022, the results were presented in the exhibition “Make Space. Do Space. Feel Space.” at B-Part Exhibition. Currently, Futurium Berlin together with the International Forum for Neurourbanistics e.V. is conducting a study on this specific topic: The Emotional City. The aim is to analyze which emotions specific places in Berlin evoke inside of us. Here you can still be included in the study.

Since March 2022, the Lab has been illuminating the possibilities of future-oriented neighborhood development with the integration of urban production. How will the city of the future feed itself and how will we work in the future? How should we plan ahead today in order to meet these challenges? On September 15, as part of the Circular Future Festival on the topic of urban production, the Lab will organize input-talks, workshops, provide insights into the work of urban producers and present a vision for the Gleisdreieck. Starting October 2022, we are looking for new Lab Fellows for our Urban Ideation Lab, the heart of B-Part. We are looking for interdisciplinary pioneers and visionaries, experts from all professions and walks of life, who would like to contribute to the Lab with new approaches for a future in livable cities – not only for a global creative elite, but for everyone. In particular, the transformation of public space will be a central theme of our work in the coming months. We will develop our ideas in design sprints or similar formats of creative idea creation. In return, our fellows can use the facilities and network of B-Part Am Gleisdreieck free of charge for at least six months.

In its short past, the Urban Ideation Lab has already hosted numerous panels, workshops, a festival and an exhibition with its Fellows and their diverse ideas. On the B-Part blog, you can get a glimpse of the potential that the network and collaboration can tap into here. Topics such as circular and sustainable building, integrative interventions in public spaces, data protection, programming for children or the development of mobile apps with students were some of the highlights.

In addition to your CV, your application should include a letter of motivation or a project description (both no longer than one DIN A4 page). Make clear why your project fits the profile of the Urban Ideation Lab and why you want to do research for and on the urban neighborhood of the future.

Interested? Apply now until October 3rd, 2022 to become a Fellow in the Urban Ideation Lab!

We look forward to receiving your application at lab@bpart.berlin.
