About Us
The Global Alliance - Cities4Children was established to tackle the huge challenges and numerous issues faced by children living in urban areas, especially the most marginalized children. We believe that together we will achieve greater collective impact and influence, we will avoid replication and siloed work, we will be able to encourage country and city level collaboration and will have a louder voice with joint advocacy and communications geared to change the narrative on urban areas that are fit for children.
About the Role
In order to achieve our advocacy, knowledge sharing and partnership building goals, we plan on participating and hosting a variety of in person and online events focused on improving the livelihoods of children living in urban areas. The events will be structured in various formats ranging from presentations, workshops, panel discussions and training events. The events will both be organised within international conferences such as WUF11 and COP27, as well as stand-alone events for internal and external audiences. These will also include regular webinars. Events are organised in partnership with members of the Global Alliance – Cities 4 Children and the audiences will range from city governments to practitioners and youth activists.
The Global Alliance is looking for an events coordinator to support the planning, organising and managing of the events.
What You're Gonna Do
- Research relevant events and understand the different requirements
- Plan and organize events in accordance with financial and time restraints
- Research and book appropriate venues
- Plan, schedule and organize agendas and speakers at event
- Coordinate and oversee all event operations
- Collaborate with the communications team of the Global Alliance to conduct campaigns, promote the events and increase participation
- Analyse and evaluate event’s results
- Write and present reports
- Provide input for social media content before, during and after the event
About You
- Experience of having organised successful events/webinars in the past.
- Experience of organising webinars on platforms such as zoom or MS Teams. Experience of organising hybrid events is an advantage
- Strong understanding, knowledge and interest of key debates and concerns within the urban development and/or child rights field
- Good time-management and organizational skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Great English writing skills
- Able to build rapport with senior stakeholders
- Problem-solving skills
- Team player
- Familiarity with the potential of social media for campaigns and advocacy
