About the Role
The Board of Directors is the designated volunteer committee that governs the affairs and business of the organization. It shall support the ongoing operations of WIUC and the development of new program areas.
This will be the founding Board of Directors to legally incorporate WIUC under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, S.C. 2009, c. 23. The first term will be roughly 1 year, until the first Annual General Meeting (AGM).
What You're Gonna Do
The selected Board of Directors will be expected to attend a monthly meeting (1.5 - 2 hrs/month), fulfil an Officer or Sub-Committee Chair role (2.5 - 6 hrs/month), and support general operations (2 - 4 hrs/month). The expected level of commitment would be between 6 - 12 hrs/month.
This is a volunteer role, which should not take priority over one's health, well-being, work, or personal relationships. If anyone within WIUC is feeling overwhelmed, unwell, or unmotivated, necessary accommodations will be made.

What We Offer
Approximately 4 - 6 Directors will be selected based on an assessment framework that considers interest, expertise, location, diversity, and special skills. The board composition will be 8 - 10 Directors in total.
The application form will be open throughout the months of July and August. Selected candidates will be welcomed to the first Board of Directors meeting in early October. This meeting will include round-table introductions, an on-boarding presentation, and discussion of Officer and Sub-Committee Chair roles.
