About Us

C40 connects more than 90 of the world’s greatest cities. It is focused on tackling climate change and driving urban action that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks, while increasing the health, wellbeing and economic opportunities of urban citizens.

About the Role

The Network Manager will manage the Municipal Building Efficiency Network which supports city efforts to improve energy efficiency of the buildings they own, lease and manage. Participating cities in the network share knowledge and best practice in priority areas such as financing, technology, governance and behaviour change. The Network Manager will work closely with the Programme Director and other network managers in the Energy & Buildings Programme to develop and deliver the strategy for the Municipal Buildings Network and lead the cities towards achieving carbon neutrality in their municipal assets. 60% of emissions from C40 Cities come from operating buildings and industries, including from municipal buildings. The latter offer a large opportunity for rapid action. Cities have a high degree of control over their municipal buildings, meaning they can directly introduce energy efficiency improvements, reduce energy consumption, cut their emissions and save public money. Municipal buildings can also act as flagships to pilot new ideas, demonstrate leadership, and inspire other building owners and users. Retrofitting municipal buildings is a key action for cities to take in the journey to tackle climate change and gain wider social and economic benefits. The Network Manager will be passionate about addressing climate change and be excited by the opportunity to work with pioneering cities around the world to help them increase the performance of their municipal buildings by prioritising energy efficiency. The Network Manager will have well developed analytical skills, familiarity with energy management systems and experience working directly with city governments and/or successful networks. A natural communicator, collaborator and facilitator, the Network Manager will successfully bring cities together to share lessons learnt and best practices as well as collaboration on joint projects and network workstreams; develop and manage major global partnerships; and facilitate delivery of support to C40 cities working collaboratively with regional staff and partner organisations. Working alongside a dynamic C40 team, the Network Manager will have a key role within the Energy and Buildings Programme supporting cities to achieve effective, ambitious and measurable outcomes on decarbonising energy and buildings in cities.
