About Us
Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) is part of the emerging global movement of new economic thinking and doing. Our aim is to help create 21st century economies that are regenerative and distributive by design, so that they can meet the needs of all people within the means of the living planet. We call this Doughnut Economics.
We work with changemakers worldwide – in communities, education, cities and places, business and government and more – who are turning the ideas of Doughnut Economics into transformative action and aiming to bring about systemic change.
Our name is very intentional: we are focused on action and always learning through experiment.
About the Role
DEAL’s small team is dynamic, works remotely, and is growing fast, thanks to the huge interest
in our work internationally. We are currently 9 team members and are planning to create 3-5
more roles over the coming year.
We work in the spirit of trust, reciprocity, integrity and experimentation and we aim to provide a
collaborative and equitable working environment where every member of the team is set up to
thrive.
Given the strong interest in DEAL’s work, we now need a creative Communications Lead to
manage and enhance DEAL’s communications activities and to help the spread and
amplification of the ideas of Doughnut Economics and how they are being turned into action.
In this newly-created role you will shape and manage DEAL's communications strategy, and be
DEAL's public-facing voice on social media and in online communications. You will craft great
content (both written and visual) for DEAL’s public communication channels, including our
website and Community Platform, social media channels, and more.

Strategic Lead), the Digital Platform Lead, and with our thematic leads (such as Communities
& Art, Business & Enterprise, and Data Analysis & Research), as well as with the rest of the
DEAL Team in day-to-day work.
We are a distributed team, working and collaborating across several countries. We meet online
two times a week for a 30 minute check-in, hold a 1 hour team meeting once a week, and
collaborate in small groups as needed, throughout the day, using a mix of Zoom, Slack, Trello,
Miro, collaborative documents, and other online tools.

Team where relevant (such as videos, blogs, podcasts, templates for publications),
working alongside external experts when needed.
- Co-create, curate and champion consistent style and branding guidelines for DEAL
(such as written and visual style, iconography and tone of voice), supporting other
team members to use these to improve their own public communications.

graphics to DEAL's work - e.g. social media cards, gifs, event cards, website, external
publications, and curating a library of digital images.
