About the Role
Fab Lab Barcelona is part of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, which supports different educational and research programs related to the multiple scales of the human habitat. It engages in European research across numerous lines of enquiry, including design, distributed manufacturing, cities and culture.
We seek the newest member of our small but effective team if you are interested in telling the world about people-centred design, social innovation and hands-on research projects.
- You are a highly organised self-starter who enjoys teamwork but can work independently.
- You have excellent dissemination and action research skills and pride yourself on your ability to implement EU-wide research projects efficiently.
- You have a flair for community engagement, and craftpeopleship ecosystem approaches in cities and rural areas.
- You have an eye for bottom-up policy making.
- You’re mission-driven, creative and imaginative, but if you get your kicks from being organised, detail-oriented, and an efficient administrator, our team is for you!
What You're Gonna Do
- Responsible for the management and/or implementation of Action Research projects.
- Engage/lead several activities in the context of several EU projects, funded by the Horizon Europe and Creative Europe programs, which include, but not limited to, CENTRINNO, Distributed Design and Pop-Machina.
- Engage in a process to strengthen a variety of creative talents/organisations (fab labs, makerspaces, manufacturers, etc) actions to measure/boost their economic, social and environmental impact.
- Design and development of new co-creation processes aligned with a set of values – Open, Collaborative, Sustainable, Ecosystemic.
- Manage the Fab City Hub agenda, which includes curating/implementing exhibitions, events, conferences, etc.
- Production of content for the Fab Lab communication and dissemination channels.
About You
- Degree in Visual arts and design, communications or a related field.
- 2-5 years of work experience.
- Strategic, imaginative and critical thinking, leadership and teamwork, project managing, community art project, international teamwork, problem-solving, community engagement, graphic design, adaptability, and collaborative attitude.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, and ability to prioritise.
- A working permit for Spain.
- Fluent in English.
- Spanish is highly recommended.
- Other languages are a bonus.
- Knowledge in the field of innovation, new technologies, Fab Lab practices and the sociocultural domain would be great.
- Master studies or Specialisation in local development, urban studies, or social sciences is a plus.
- Experience in grant writing, EU-funded projects or the educational sector is appreciated.
What We Offer
- Full-Time position (40 h week, from Monday to Friday) based in Barcelona at Fab Lab Barcelona HQ (Carrer de Pujades, 102)
- Preliminary start date: 01 November 2022
- Gross Salary: 26,000€ per annum
