What You're Gonna Do

Common and baseline responsibilities of an URBAN DESIGNER III, include but are not limited to:  - Uses advanced experience and knowledge of planning and design to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design. - Conducts data gathering, research, and creative exploration. - Analyzes sites, programs, and other key project elements through quantitative and qualitative means. - Develops analytical and design drawings throughout the design process using analog (through sketching and physical modeling) and digital means (through digital analyses, sketching, and modeling). - Strategizes, outlines, mockups, and develops design documentation including master plan reports, design guidelines, and client-ready presentation materials. - Coordinates all aspects of project deliverables. - Reviews, evaluates, and integrates zoning and policy requirements into project design. - Develops strategies for key urban frameworks and systems including but not limited to circulation, open space, buildings, and infrastructure. - Performs advanced development calculations according to specified standards and proposed development controls. - Leads project-related client discussions and presentations. - Assists with project-related public discussions and presentations. - Takes increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities. - Implements responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely and consistent way.  - Supports growth of others. - Exercises creative judgment in all aspects of the design process. - Proactively asks questions and expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large. - Participates actively within collaborative team settings such as: casual team interactions, design charettes, reviews, and pin-ups. - Keeps open communication within the team and with designated team leader. - Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others. - Effectively coordinates with other design partners and consultants.  - Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual. - Completes tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of work, schedule, and budget, in an organized, timely and consistent way.

About You

Typical Years of Requisite Experience: 5 to 8 years Education and Accreditation: - Position requires a professional degree in urban design, landscape, architecture, or related discipline. - LEED GA within 6 months of hire - Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHE Passive House Institute Certified Passive House, or RELi AP - Preparing for professional license - Working on AICP certification
