About the Role

The Associate Professor – Environmental and Urban Health will take a leadership role in teaching in the subject area of Environmental/Urban Health, as well as other areas of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching. The Associate Professor – Environmental and Urban Health will be an established independent researcher and will be expected to build a research team, actively advance their research profile through publications in peer reviewed journals, applications for competitive funding, higher degree student supervision and contributions to academic administrative functions in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine. The role of Associate Professor - Environmental and Urban Health reports to the Head of School and will have two direct reports. UNSW Medicine is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to a number of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie. The School of Public Health and Community Medicine (SPHCM) is internationally recognised as a leader in Public Health with research strengths in Health Systems Research, Adolescent Health, Healthy Ageing, Infection and Immunity, Environmental Health, Global Health, Indigenous Health and Primary Health Care. Our work generates new knowledge to help inform policy, governance, organisation, work and leadership in the health sector through cross disciplinary research with both academia and industry. The School also has strong associations with research centres and institutes throughout UNSW.

About You

You will have a PhD degree in Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Public Health, Urban Planning; Social Geography; Environmental Psychology or a related discipline. You will also have demonstrated experience in delivery of high-quality postgraduate teaching and curriculum development, including teaching in Public Health courses at tertiary level. You will also have a significant track record in peer-reviewed publications and grant success in the field of environmental or urban health, including from Category 1 funding sources.
