About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a highly competent and dynamic individual with a solid academic record and a strong understanding of the debates and literature related to transport, urban development, and social diversity and equity in urban development and transport planning in cities of the Global South.

What You're Gonna Do

The postholder will be expected to contribute to two key aspects of DPU’s current work on urban transport. The first is teaching on the MSc Urban Development Planning (UDP), an interdisciplinary post-graduate programme that seeks to provide the analytical and practical tools to engage reflexively with urban development and planning challenges in the Global South. The second is to contribute to developing the DPU’s growing research and consultancy portfolio in urban transport and mobility in the Global South. She or he will be expected to engage with DPU’s Research Clusters and help expand our exciting research portfolio.

About You

The successful candidates will hold a be educated to PhD level in urban transport in a development planning context. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound knowledge of the relevant literature and a solid publication record in the field of urban transport and mobility in the Global South and also have research or professional experience in the field of urban transport in the Global South, including use of modelling tools.

This is an open-ended contract. We expect the postholder to commence the role no later than January 2019.

Salary

£39,353- £42,701 per annum
