Lyft is looking for an experienced transportation strategist to join our Policy Development and Research team as our Future of Cities Manager. This role will help drive cross-functional alignment on Lyft’s multimodal initiatives and shape the company’s perspective on various street design, land use, and transportation planning issues. This individual will serve as a strategic advisor, providing subject matter expertise to our Public Policy, Business, Product, Marketing, Operations, Communications, and Legal teams. A suitable candidate has strong experience in transportation planning and is passionate about the positive impact of Lyft’s mobility ecosystem on the future of cities. What You're Gonna Do

- Serve as a strategic advisor to teams across the company, helping bring a policy perspective early on into decision-making processes. - Draft memos and recommendations for Lyft’s senior management about pressing transportation-related issues. - Guide the company’s perspective on the future of cities and identify proactive actions that advance Lyft’s operational and business interests. - Develop and execute strategies that respond to issues arising from the rapidly changing transportation landscape. - Occasionally represent Lyft and evangelize our vision to build people-oriented cities through public speaking engagements at industry conferences and events. - Help articulate business cases for new initiatives and develop actionable recommendations for pilot programs to test them. - Identify operational issues and develop solutions to streamline business processes across Lyft’s various multimodal-focused teams.

About You

- Minimum 5+ years of diverse experience within public agency, non-profit, think tank or consulting firms, working on transportation, city planning, and/or urban design initiatives. - Bachelor’s degree, with a strong preference for a graduate degree or demonstrated subject matter expertise in urban studies, transportation planning, or public policy. - Meaningful experience and nuanced understanding of the policy environments for land use, transportation planning, and shared mobility issues. - Relevant work experience managing cross-functional projects and driving alignment across multiple business units. - Relevant work experience with analyzing policies, identifying risk, and drafting recommendations. - Strong, persuasive writer and quick critical thinker. - Experienced and fearless public speaker. - Charismatic, intellectually astute individual with the ability to quickly learn highly technical policy subject matter and communicate about it in a compelling, relatable way.
