About Us
Bloomberg Associates is an international consulting service founded by Michael R. Bloomberg as a philanthropic venture. Our mission is to help city governments improve the quality of life of their citizens.
Directed by a team of globally recognized experts and industry leaders, the consultancy works to improve urban environments by collaborating with cities to develop best practices, build consensus and foster key relationships.
About the Role
The Sustainability practice is seeking a six-month consultant to support its work across client cities. We work with mayors to ensure that all residents benefit from a city’s success, and are prepared for a changing climate, by helping city leaders manage their critical resources, like energy, water and natural infrastructure, to enhance near- and long-term benefits for citizens. This includes:
- Developing an overall sustainability vision that connects to broader themes by diagnosing political opportunities and obstacles, identifying the characteristics that differentiate one city from another, and broadening environmental sustainability to address critical public issues and concerns
- Developing targeted sustainability initiatives
- Creating consensus that leads to action
- Engaging external partners and resources
- Institutionalizing sustainability within city government
Past projects have covered a range of issues, including GHG reduction, heat wave mitigation, energy supply, solid waste, housing affordability, natural infrastructure, neighborhood stabilization/revitalization, energy conservation and food policy.
