About Us

EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) is one of two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology. Its location on the shores of Lake Geneva, EPFL brings together a campus of more than 10,000 people. By its novel structure, the school stimulates collaboration between students, professors, researchers and entrepreneurs. These daily interactions give rise to new and groundbreaking work in science, technology and architecture.

About the Role

Transportation systems are currently experiencing a fundamental transformation in their structures and organization, triggered by new technologies (self-driving cars, ride-hailing services, robotics, AI) and the development of the shared economy. “Mobility as a Service” and traveler-centric systems be conceptual references. The integration of these new trends, their petition with public transportation and the evolution of transportation systems present a large array of social, environmental, and technical challenges in a context of digital transformation. The design, construction, maintenance and operations of technology-aware transportation infrastructures involves all transportation modes, both in urban and inter-urban contexts. EPFL’s School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) invites applications for a Faculty position at the tenure track level (Assistant Professor) in Emerging mobility and technology-aware transportation infrastructure. We are seeking out talented people who will be able to provide innovative solutions in this evolving field. The successful candidate will have a strong research background in transportation systems as well as the potential to develop an innovative and internationally recognized research program leading to an outstanding record of scientific accomplishments. As a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Section, he/she will excel in undergraduate and graduate teaching and the supervision of doctoral students. The following documents are requested in PDF format: cover letter including a statement of motivation, curriculum vitae, publications list, concise statements of research and teaching interests (3-5 pages) as well as the names and addresses, including emails, of at least three references (who may be contacted at a later stage).
