Founded and led by Jeanne Gang, Studio Gang is an architecture and urban design practice headquartered in Chicago with offices in New York, San Francisco, and Paris. We work as a collective of more than 100 architects, designers, and planners, using design as a medium to connect people to each other, to their communities, and to the environment. We collaborate closely with our clients, expert consultants, and specialists from a wide range of fields to design and realize innovative projects at multiple scales: architecture, urbanism, interiors, and exhibitions.

About the Role

Are you an architect with a passion for urban design? Do you thrive in a creative and collaborative work environment? Do you care deeply about the entire civic ecology? Do you feel comfortable operating across scales with agility and exceptional design ability? Studio Gang is looking to add a new member to our Urbanism + Civic Impact practice. In the Studio, urban design is embedded into our architecture practice and we strive to design actionable, buildable architecture through urban planning and urban design. The ideal candidate for this role has an architectural background with training in urban design and a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience. In this role, you will develop urban design strategies at a variety of scales while engaging closely with communities and key stakeholders along with project teams in all phases of design. Additional responsibilities include daily design and/or technical development of projects, research and analysis, coordination with design team consultants, community engagement, and participation in other design team presentations, activities, and more.

About You

REQUIRED - Excellent design talent in all phases of the design process - Combination of professional training in urban design and architecture with a deep understanding of both practices. - Demonstrated understanding of Studio Gang’s ethos and values - A five-year bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree - Experience with community engagement - Excellent communication skills - Advanced knowledge of digital software is required (Rhino, AutoCAD, GIS, Adobe Design Suite) - Ideally living in Chicago or be willing to relocate to Chicago PREFERRED - Professional architecture licensure and/or registration
