In 2011, The Class Foundation was founded in response to a growing student housing crisis in the Netherlands. This regional scope widened throughout the past decade but the core purpose remained; unveiling innovative solutions to the common challenge in solving the student housing crisis.

About the Role

The 5 Basics: - A fulltime position in a lively 12 people co-working space in the heart of Amsterdam - Further grow Europe’s leading think tank on the future of student accommodation, coliving, campus and university-cities - Be part of a young, ambitious, multidisciplinary and international team - A chance to travel across Europe’s most exciting cities - Competitive compensation package and stipend for your personal development The leading think tank on student living, working and learning in Europe is looking for an evidencedriven and analytical consultant to join our growing team. As higher education is becoming a global industry, the way in which universities, cities and countries attract talent is changing. Our foundation connects the international communities of real estate, student housing, blended living typologies, higher education and urban development. We do this by developing and sharing knowledge through research projects, publications and organised events.

What You're Gonna Do

You are the one who explores and investigates the dynamic correlation and co-dependence of all our stakeholders and advises the key players with our think tank proposition. Our industry stakeholders are diverse and international. Many of them represent the top brands in the fastgrowing alternative investment markets for student housing, coliving, coworking and other hybrids. In addition, the decisions and actions of urban cities and higher education institutions hugely impact the way in which the industry operates. You are responsible for data-driven and evidence-based research and analysis to deliver thought-provoking contents and carry out research and advisory projects. You conduct city benchmarking, industry trend mapping and forecasting of potential opportunities and challenges in order to put forward unbiased diagnosis, realistic solutions and future-proof recommendations. You connect the dots between strategies and activities of the internal and external stakeholders and translate diverse indicators including numerical data into prospects that can reinforce the foundation’s commitment to its manifesto. You report directly to the Programme Director. It is our mission as a think tank to lead the trend and set the most urgent, relevant and important agenda for our industry. Our commitment towards making student living more professional, welcoming and international inspires us to organise specific events in numerous European countries. In these events we raise awareness on the topic of our choice, increase the knowledge base of the industry and facilitate networking between universities, providers, investors and policy makers. The Class is organising the following events: - The Class Conference, November 2020 with over 75 speakers and 1000 people attending (expected) - 7 Regional Sessions in UK, Spain, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Italy with expert panels and 200 people attending (expected) - 2 professional development trainings in Europe with 80 strategic and operational staff attending (expected) - 1 intercontinental event (The Class Conference Preview in New York City in September). Your 5 priorities: Identifier and coordinator of thought-leadership - Identify and lead 5 independent/co-research opportunities to enrich our knowledge and strengthen our expertise (commissioned and/or together with partners) - Strengthen our Advisory projects both in quality and productivity (commissioned by cities and join forces with partners) - Lead The Class Trend Report to fortify the urgency and relevance of the content utilizing excellent project management skills - Re-invent our regional outlooks both in terms of content and format to position them as newsworthy statements - Support content team with in-depth acumen and supervise research intern

About You

To be considered as a candidate for this exciting position you will have expertise in, and a true passion for applied research and consulting projects. You thrive when working with diverse stakeholders and cross-departmental functions with strong ability to connect the dots. The successful candidate for this role will be highly analytical, an excellent communicator (spoken and written), and a great networker. You are comfortable with public speaking with the ability to seize commercial opportunities and respond to the needs and wants of both internal and external stakeholders. 5 things we look for: - 4 years of proven experience in real estate, urban planning, consultancy, research & analysis and/or market intelligence development - Proven track record of producing consulting reports and applied research papers in micro, meso and micro levels with a strong capability to analyze both quantitative and qualitative research/data - Relevant MA level education with research experience - Affinity with the student housing, coliving, other hybrid living typologies and urban regeneration is a must - Fluent in English both spoken and written. Fluency in Dutch and other European languages is a plus
