About the Role

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science,Danish Building Research Institute (Statens Byggeforskningsinstitut) at Aalborg University’s campus in Copenhagen a position as researcher in urban and regional research is open for appointment from February 1st, 2020 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of four years.

What You're Gonna Do

The position is located in the department of Urban, housing and property research. The research activities includes - Sustainable cities and housing - Residential location and regional development - Architecture - Social vulnerable housing estates - Universal design and accessibility The department welcome applicants with interests and experiences with newer processes of urbanisation, in particularly the relationship between rural and urban areas. Moreover, a strong knowledge of strategic planning and development of smart cities is considered an advantage. The successful candidate must have experience with qualitatively methods and science theory. The position demands practical experience with project management and international projects. The research activities at AAU are in the process of dynamic development these years, thus candidates must be willing and able to adapt in terms of both subject field and method.

About You

The position requires a relevant education at master level within architecture, sociology, geography or similar disciplines as well as a phd-degree. Applicants should have a broad knowledge of urbanisation both empirical and theoretical. The position requires strong skills in qualitative methods. Good teaching skills is an advantage. The position demands the ability for working both independently and in teams. The department has a close cooperation with national and local authorities, various representatives from the construction and housing sector.
