What You're Gonna Do
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland’s transport system underpins the success of Auckland, and it impacts on the lives of all Aucklanders. Decisions on the future of this system are city-shaping, long-lasting and expensive, requiring careful and thorough consideration.
We are seeking an outstanding strategic thinker to help ensure Auckland’s future transport system will achieve Auckland Council’s broader city goals such as ensuring its integration with land use to create highly liveable communities, responding to the challenge of climate change, and enabling greater economic prosperity.
In this role you will provide strategic, compelling advice to the Mayor, councillors and senior managers on a range of matters relating to Auckland’s transport needs, both now and in the future. In addition, as a Manager, you will develop and lead a team of professionals in a manner that ensures the effective delivery of a complex and significant workload. You will work with a range of groups across the council family to ensure the strategic direction for transport in the Auckland Plan is achieved.
About You
He kōrero mōu: About you
We welcome applications from individuals with a successful background in leading the development of transport strategy, policy and planning. Your career history may span working for central or local government organisations that undertake national or city-wide strategic transport planning, or you may have been a consultant for such organisations.
You will also bring significant experience in advising senior decision makers on complex strategy and policy matters related to transport. Building relationships and working collaboratively will be second nature to you. You will have well developed political acumen, be savvy and can communicate complex issues in a simple but persuasive manner. A genuine passion and interest in the future of Auckland’s transport network is crucial to the role.
You will enjoy developing and coaching a small team that will be at the heart of some of Auckland’s most important future decisions, both strategically and financially.
