About the Role

The Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) is a department within UCL and part of The Bartlett faculty, known internationally for its radical thinking about space, design and sustainability. The work of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) is influencing global policy decisions and creating new policy collaborations to deliver public value-driven innovations. UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) is seeking a Senior Research Fellow in Cities, Climate and Innovation, to work on a project in our Green Economy and Sustainable Growth research and policy engagement area. The successful candidate will explore innovation systems and approaches, supporting economic models that could be developed to support the green transition at a systems level, as applied to multiple partner regions, cities and other systems. The PELICAN project focuses this research specifically on urban transitions. The role-holder will also be able to draw on and contribute to work on other city and region based green economy projects at IIPP, also linked to IIPP’s strategic relationship with EIT Climate-KIC. This is a fixed term position until May 2021 in the first instance, and further funding might become available.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in urban development, urban transitions, urban development, the built environment, or a related topic area. We are seeking for a candidate with extensive experience conducting high quality qualitative and quantitative research to lead IIPP’s path-breaking research on green economy. The position presents an excellent opportunity to shape an innovative field of research, influence policy at the highest levels, and contribute more broadly to a fast paced and rapidly growing academic department.
