About the Role
The Real Estate Workplace Services (REWS) Sustainability Team is responsible for developing sustainability strategy and supporting frameworks for our global Real Estate and Development teams. We engage across teams to facilitate and deliver on our Google Sustainability commitments. Sustainability is embedded in every part of the built environment at Google. We take a holistic approach, thinking beyond just minimizing our negative impact, to how we can enrich the planet, our employees and our communities.
As the Urban Ecology Program Manager your job is to develop science-based design guidance at a scale that impacts the Bay Area regionally. You are responsible for developing the strategic roadmap and tools/resources for Google’s Urban Ecology program. You will work closely with external partners to set a precedent for enhancing ecological value and urban biodiversity. You will also engage internal teams to scale this guidance across new developments in the Bay Area and beyond. This is a highly collaborative role that requires someone who works well with teammates, partners, vendors and internal clients.
What You're Gonna Do
- Oversee core program management responsibilities, including but not limited to oversight of budget and schedule, maintaining all agreements related to this work and developing annual program work plans to ensure that all consultants and communications are coordinated.
- Research, develop and maintain all urban ecology design and operational guidance documents in collaboration with key consultants and subject matter experts.
- Onboard project teams to Google’s position on urban ecology. Provide technical support and implementation guidance across all scales of development.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to define metrics that demonstrate achievement of program objectives and represent Google’s Urban Ecology program through community engagement, including convening with local environmental groups and other relevant constituents.
- Maintain content for internal Urban Ecology program site and all related tools and resources for implementation across all scales of development. Represent Google’s Ecology work publicly (e.g., media, conferences and speaking engagements).
About You
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience with landscape design and/or urban ecology.
- 7 years of program management experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with managing local community engagement.
- Experience with large campus master planning or district-scale ecology program integration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
