A photo, drawing and video contest to give young people a voice.
The Global Youth Safety in Urban Environments Competition is a global photo, drawing and video contest for young people between 15 and 24 years old. From 3 August to 7 September, you have a chance to win a voucher of up to 300 CHF (ca. 277 EUR) by helping ICLEI and Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation understand the security needs and issues of young people in cities.
It’s easy: tell us who you are, take our quick survey, and upload a photo, drawing or short video (15-30 seconds) about a safety concern in your urban environment. There are 18 awards totaling 2300 Swiss Francs. There will be 15 awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 12 finalists) for the video, photo and drawing competition. Three other awards will go to participants who propose the three best names for the program.
AIMS The competition has the objective of supporting the current program in understanding what safety and security issues young people face daily in their urban contexts. Additionally, as this program aims to be created with young people and for young people, we want You to suggest a new name for the program.
Examples of security and safety issues include crime, violence, sexual harassment and discrimination in public spaces or public transport. But also road traffic accidents, injuries, the lack of urban infrastructure to move, do sports, meet with friends, including all difficulties for young people with reduced mobility (i.e. lack of ramps), etc.
