For many people mobility futures are still about flying cars, an idea that has been around for over 100 years. It is time to move beyond those old-fashioned, tech-driven imaginaries.
Beyond Flying Cars is a 3-day Masterclass on the future of mobility taking place in Rotterdam between March 29th – 31st, 2023 organised by Dutch urban agency Humankind in collaboration with EIT Urban Mobility. Applying speculative design and transition management, the Masterclass will focus on exploring different scenarios and strategies for change in the field of urban mobility, providing innovative and hands-on tools for professionals to create new, worth-living mobility futures.
Humankind is offering an exclusive 10% discount code to the All Things Urban community: ALLTHINGS10
The program is organised in three blocks, coinciding with the three days that the event will last. Following a theory-to-practice format, the first two days will focus on transition management, trend analysis and futuring applied to the realms of public space and urban transportation, featuring guest speakers Robin Chase (Zipcar, Veniam, NUMO), George Liu (University of Amsterdam), Derk Loorbach (DRIFT, Erasmus University Rotterdam) and Alice Haugh (Laudes Foundation). The third day will focus on real reference cases from the industry, using co-creation to critically look at practical applications of all frameworks and tools used throughout the Masterclass with input from Martin Guit (Rebel Group), Mariana Mirabile (OECD), Marjolein Stamsnijder (NS) and Sigrid de Vries (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association).
