This webinar goes beyond the hype of AI and focuses on practical, real-world skills for urban practitioners.
You’ll see two practical approaches in action: a soft connection, where LLMs help you write expressions, clean datasets, and guide analysis alongside QGIS; and an integrated connection, where an AI model is linked directly inside QGIS for more advanced and fluid interactions.
You’ll understand where AI adds value, where it doesn’t, and how to combine both effectively in everyday urban workflows.
##💡Why Join
AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude are everywhere – but this session cuts through the noise.
This session looks at the parts that actually work everyday GIS practice: where AI helps solve problems, where QGIS tools outperform it, and how to combine both effectively.
You’ll walk away with transferable skills, not hype.
## 🧭 What You’ll Get Access To:
**1.Live session (90 minutes):**
Two practical workflows demonstrated live:
- Soft connection – using AI alongside QGIS to write expressions, clean datasets, generate queries or styles, and guide analysis.
- Integrated connection – connecting an AI model (e.g., Claude) directly inside QGIS using an MCP setup.
The full session will be recorded and available to rewatch anytime.
**2. Hands-on materials:**
- the exact datasets and QGIS project used in the session
- example prompts for expressions, SQL, and data cleaning
- 2 mini exercises to practice independently
**3. A dedicated follow-up Q&A session (45-60 minutes):**
After the webinar, you can submit your questions. In the live Q&A, the expert will walk through key questions and demonstrate solutions to real errors.
Q&A will be held on Friday, December 19th, at 3 pm CET / 9 am EST.
The Q&A will be recorded and accessible afterward.
## 🎯 What You’ll Walk Away With
- See clearly when AI adds value and when it doesn’t.
- Learn strong prompting strategies for QGIS tasks.
- Understand how AI enhances (not replaces) spatial reasoning.
- Build practical, repeatable AI-aided GIS workflows for urban projects.
## 👥 Who Is This For
Urban planners & designers, transport & mobility consultants, climate and sustainability professionals, urban researchers, and GIS professionals with basic to intermediate QGIS experience – enough to navigate the interface, work with attribute data, and understand how core tools like the Field Calculator and basic styling fit into everyday analysis. No programming knowledge is required; just curiosity about how AI can support practical GIS workflows.
🌏 The session is applicable worldwide. The session uses selected case studies to demonstrate the tools and workflow logic, and every step can be replicated with your own datasets in any city or region.
If you’re unsure whether your QGIS level is sufficient, feel free to reach out at
[email protected] and we will assist.
