Night is not only time, it is also space. Space to bond, build, dance, dream, create, experience and celebrate the cities we inhabit, together. We hope you will join MTL 24/24 this spring to expand collective horizons and explore the boundless potential that the night has to offer. This yearโ€™s Night Summit will explore the following topics with speakers from Europe, the US, Canada and Quebec: ๐ŸŒƒ Physical dimensions: Nightscapes, architecture, zoning areas, urban development and planning, transformation of industrial spaces, cultural venues, multi-use placemaking and creative footprints. ๐Ÿš€ The exploration of ingenuity: Ideas, interventions, best practices, actions, policy and possibilities. Moonshots in transit, public parks, lighting, society, culture, safety, care, and space for the next generation. ๐Ÿช Constellations and relative positions: Night governance models, inter-city networks, innovations in community building, nightlife projects and resilience. ๐Ÿ’ƒ To close out the week, our ๐๐Ž๐ ๐’๐“๐Ž๐ event returns from the ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ— ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ for 36 back-to-back hours of night culture in the Port of Montreal Pavilion, with its spectacular panoramic view of the St. Lawrence River and the city of Montreal! THEME AND SPEAKERS Our theme, NOX x SPATIUM, focuses on nocturnal spaces. We discuss architecture and urban planning, but also cultural spaces, safe spaces and more! We are particularly delighted with the participation of $teven Ra$pa, one of the co-founders of Burning Man, who will deliver a 45-minute speech on the lessons that "permanent" cities like Montreal can learn from... ephemeral cities like Black Rock. City. Also noteworthy are the participations of Luc Gwiazdzinski, a pioneer in night studies who wrote the bestseller "The 24-hour city", DJ Minx, the Detroit house legend to talk about club culture, David Lezhava, a Georgian activist from Tbilisi who was at the center of the 2017 protests to save the Bassiani club from the authoritarian policies of his government, Benjamin Scheerbarth, the architect who created the Holzmarkt in Berlin, Steven van Lummel and David Schoch from the PIP club in The Hague who we will unveil their new project night cultural park - Intercity, Rebecca Godfrey from Commercial Real Estate Services to discuss the impact of culture on real estate development, Carly Heath, night mayor of Bristol in England who was able to implement the first city-wide policy on harm reduction, a delegation of night mayors from the United States (Orlando, Philadelphia, Dallas) and Canada (Ottawa, Vancouver), and more! As a gift, to end the day, two documentary films: God Said Give 'em Drum Machines, which retraces the history of techno in Detroit and features their creators like Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Blake Baxter, and Montrรฉal, la nuit, a report produced by the VRAI platform which focuses on the changes promised by the future nightlife policy of the City of Montreal, promised for the fall of 2023. Local artists Priori and Lis Dalton are notably interviewed, like Ariel Palitz, New York City's night mayor.

About Us

MTL 24/24 is a non-profit organization that analyzes, animates and provides frameworks for Montrealโ€™s nightlife. Our work aims to enhance the development of our city by introducing the night as a new frontier for innovation. Our approach is rooted in a desire to foster mindful development that favours shared uses. Through exchange and communication among nightlife participants, research on nocturnal activity and the production of events that stimulate economic growth in a philanthropic manner, we are here to assist the City of Montreal in formulating public nightlife policies that consider local realities. Our objectives are to destigmatize nightlife activities, support the local scene, enable a dialogue between the community, public and political authorities, and to enhance local economic life โ€“ promoting the potential international influence of our metropolis. Our operations will eventually facilitate the development of a new economic sector and allow the cityโ€™s culture to shine on a world stage. MTL 24/24 places the dynamic and philanthropic advancement of Montreal nights at the core of its mission. As an incubator of ideas, practices and projects, we animate, create and provide frameworks for our cityโ€™s nightlife economy, while contributing to its influence.
